Consular legalisation for China

Notarisation of documents for China

LEGALISATION & APOSTILLE REQUIREMENTS
Foreign and Commonwealth Office Legalisation required.
This is followed by Consular legalisation from the Chinese Consulate in London.

The consular application form must be duly filled in dated and signed for submission along with the documentation and passport copy of the applicant/agent (purpose for legalisation must be provided).

For documents in relation to private matters, the holder of the document is required to present photocopy of his valid passport along with photocopy of the document requiring legalisation and Chinese Consulate application form duly filled in and signed by the applicant.

If the legalisation concerns commercial documents, the company’s legal representative (director or company secretary) must present a valid passport,  a Companies House report showing his status as a legal representative of the company (e.g. Current Appointments Report or Certificate of Incorporation with Directors confirmation) as well as the Chinese Consulate application form duly filled in and signed by the applicant.

Documents certified by a notary public must have a notarial certificate and be properly bound with ribbon and seal to avoid rejection.
Photocopy of all documents is required.

Documents issued in the UK for use in Hong Kong or Macao regions do not require further consular legalisation once they have been Apostilled.
