LEGALISATION & APOSTILLE REQUIREMENTS
Foreign and Commonwealth Office Legalisation required only.
(no further form of Consulate legalisation should in theory be required as India is a party to the Hague Convention of 05 October 1961).

However in practice notwithstanding that India has ratified the Hague Convention, some parties in India often still require legalisation from the Indian High Commission (IHC). Please check with the party in India to whom you are sending your documents to what their requirements are.

The IHC shall attest commercial/company documents only if the company in question is incorporated in the UK and if these documents are required by the instructing party in India to be attested by the High Commission.

Only commercial/company documents can be legalised via Agent. For any type of private documents, the holder must attend the consular section in person in order to sign the documentation in the presence of a Consular Officer and present his original passport. 

For submission of commercial/company documents via Agent for attestation by the IHC, the following subordinate documents are required:

  • Miscellaneous Application Form dully filled in and signed by the applicant/representative of the company;
  • A request letter for the service on Company Letter Head with the seal of the company stamped on the Company Letter Head. The request letter should be duly signed by one of the Directors of the Company and should be accompanied by a copy of the Certificate of Incorporation in respect of the company duly notarised & Apostilled by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office;
  • The document (s) to be attested in original along with a photocopy set of the original document (s). All commercial/company documents issued in the UK that require attestation should be duly notarised & Apostilled by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
  • The commercial/company documents should be submitted along with the valid original passport and photocopy of the passport pages containing personal particulars of one of the Directors of the Company. If due to any reason, the original passport cannot be submitted, duly notarised copies of the passport pages containing personal particulars of one of the Directors of the Company should be submitted.

TIME AND FEES

The turnaround time for legalisation of commercial documents is likely to be 4-5 working days from the date the documents are submitted. An appointment for submission must be booked in advance. The consular legalisation fee is £45.44 per commercial/company document PLUS special delivery postage return fee of £15.

This is followed by Consular legalisation from the Consulate of Indonesia in London.
Commercial/company documents must relate to UK/Irish companies and a Certificate of Incorporation, cover letter and photocopy of a director’s passport identification page may also be required.
The Consulate of Indonesia in London also has jurisdiction for legalising documents issued in the Republic of Ireland. These documents must first be legalised by The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Ireland prior to submission to the Consulate of Indonesia in London.
Photocopy of the document is required.

TIME AND FEES
Please allow up to 3-4 working days for consular legalisation. The legalisation fee charge of the Consulate of Indonesia is £20 per personal documents related to Indonesian nationals only or £101 per personal documents related to British citizens and other nationalities apart from Indonesian as well as all types of commercial documents.

Commercial documents can either be Apostilled or certified by the London Chamber of Commerce prior to submitting to the consular section of the Iranian Consulate for further attestation. 
Photocopy of the document is required.

TIME AND FEES
Please allow between 1-3 working days for consular legalisation although a “same day service” is often available if the application is submitted early in the morning and subject to their workload. The legalisation fee charge of the Iranian Consulate is £50 per document for documents related to commercial matters and £10 per document for documents related to personal matters.

LEGALISATION & APOSTILLE REQUIREMENTS

This is followed by Consular legalisation from the Iraqi Consulate in London.
As per Circular 766 (Arab-British Chamber of Commerce), documents containing handwritten amendments/insertions will not be accepted for legalisation. The document’s content, except for the actual signature (s), must be entirely in print, including any internal references.
All documents to be legalised for Iraq should contain the registration number and UK address of any company mentioned in the document, as well as the passport/ID number of any persons named in the text.
Two photocopies of the documents for legalisation should be supplied, if commercial documents, or one photocopy if private document. 
If the private document is a Power of Attorney, document holder must attend the consular section of the Iraqi Consulate in person in order to sign it in the presence of the Consular Officer.

TIME AND FEES
Different fees and time scales apply depending on whether or not the document is of a commercial or corporate nature or alternatively if a matter concerns a private individual or persons and is of a personal nature.

For personal documents please allow up to 2-3 working days for consular legalisation. The legalisation fee charge of the Iraqi Consulate is £12 per document.

For documents of a commercial or corporate nature please allow up to 1-2 weeks for consular legalisation. The legalisation fee charge of the Iraqi Consulate is £145 per document. Commercial documents additionally require legalisation at the London and Arab-British Chamber of Commerce and Industry and additional fee of £48.03 for standard service (up to 2 weeks) or £87.03 for express service (2-3 working days) apply.

In practice legalisation is not normally required for Jamaica if the documents have been signed/authenticated by a UK notary (s. 22(2)(a) and (3) of the Jamaican Judicature (Supreme Court) Act 1880 (as amended)).

LEGALISATION & APOSTILLE REQUIREMENTS
Foreign and Commonwealth Office Legalisation required. Commercial documents can be legalised either by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office or the Arab British Chamber prior to submitting for further attestation by the Jordanian Consulate in London.
Documents must refer to Jordan, and, if referring to any other country within its contents are likely to be rejected.

Educational documents issued from an educational institute based in the UK for the purpose of accreditation from the Ministry of Higher Education of Jordan can be legalised from British Council in Amman, so there is NO need for the Jordanian Consulate legalisation or Foreign and Commonwealth Office legalisation.

All documents issued in Jordan which need to be used in the UK should be legalised from the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Amman to be able to be legalised by the Jordanian Embassy in London. Legalising such documents is free of charge.

Bundled documents are accepted under one notarial certificate and Apostille and only one consular fee would apply.

For legalisation of Powers of Attorney, the following instructions must be observed by the Notary/Solicitor, before notarising the documents:

  • A specific reference to the documents behind it.
  • A declaration that the Power of Attorney has been signed in the presence of a UK Notary Public or Practising Solicitor, after being satisfied that the signatory ID is original.
  • In case of signing on behalf of a company, the Notarial Certificate should clearly state that the ‘Practising Solicitor’/‘Notary Public’ is satisfied that the signatory has the full authority and the capacity to sign of behalf of the company.

TIME AND FEES
Please allow up to 5 working days for consular legalisation. The legalisation fee charge of the Consulate of Jordan is £94.50 per commercial document or £22.50 per personal document. The fees include the postal order charge as the Consulate only accept payments by postal order.

This is followed by legalisation from Libyan Consulate in London. Some commercial documents are required to be submitted to London and the Arab Chambers of Commerce in London prior to submitting to the Libyan Consulate for further attestation.

Certificate of origin and invoices are required to be legalised via London and Arab Chambers of Commerce and the fees are based on the sum in the transaction.

If commercial documents are to be legalised by the Chambers, a translation of each document into Arabic will be required (for their internal use only and not required to be notarised/legalised in itself).

TIME AND FEES
For consular legalisation only, please allow up to 1-2 working days. The Libyan Consulate is closed on Fridays. If the legalisation involves the London and Arab Chambers of Commerce, the turnaround time is likely to be 8-10 working days for consular legalisation.

The legalisation fee charge of the Libyan Consulate is £20 per document. If documents are required to be legalised by the London and Arab Chamber of Commerce, additional fees of £48.03 per document for standard service (turnaround time 2 weeks) or £87.03 for express service ( turnaround time 3-4 working days) apply.
