LEGALISATION AND APOSTILLE REQUIREMENTS
For documents to be used in Lebanon, they must first be legalised with an Apostille from the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), then submitted to the Lebanese Consulate for further attestation. Commercial documents such as Certificates of Origin and Invoices may also require legalisation by the London and Arab-British Chambers of Commerce before being presented to the Consulate. All documents must reference Lebanon in their content; documents mentioning other countries may be rejected. Bundled documents under one notarial certificate and Apostille are accepted, but the consular fee is charged for each document within the bundle. For Powers of Attorney, a copy of the signatory’s passport must be included.
TIME AND FEES
The consular fee is £161 per commercial document, with an additional £58.50 per commercial document if further legalisation by the London and Arab-British Chambers of Commerce is required. Fees for private documents vary: £27 for GRO Certificates (birth, marriage, death), £72 for General Powers of Attorney, £36 per signature for Special Power of Attorney (plus extra fees if monetary amounts are stated), £43 for affidavits, educational documents, medical reports, and Divorce Judgement, and £90 for Wills and Pledge to Deny Ownership documents. The maximum fee is £1,786. Processing time is typically 3–4 working days. Payment is accepted in cash or by postal order only. Submissions are accepted from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm, with collection from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, Monday to Friday.
