Consular legalisation for Jordan

Notarisation of documents for Jordan

LEGALISATION & APOSTILLE REQUIREMENTS
Foreign and Commonwealth Office Legalisation required. Commercial documents can be legalised either by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office or the Arab British Chamber prior to submitting for further attestation by the Jordanian Consulate in London.
Documents must refer to Jordan, and, if referring to any other country within its contents are likely to be rejected.

Educational documents issued from an educational institute based in the UK for the purpose of accreditation from the Ministry of Higher Education of Jordan can be legalised from British Council in Amman, so there is NO need for the Jordanian Consulate legalisation or Foreign and Commonwealth Office legalisation.

All documents issued in Jordan which need to be used in the UK should be legalised from the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Amman to be able to be legalised by the Jordanian Embassy in London. Legalising such documents is free of charge.

Bundled documents are accepted under one notarial certificate and Apostille and only one consular fee would apply.

For legalisation of Powers of Attorney, the following instructions must be observed by the Notary/Solicitor, before notarising the documents:

  • A specific reference to the documents behind it.
  • A declaration that the Power of Attorney has been signed in the presence of a UK Notary Public or Practising Solicitor, after being satisfied that the signatory ID is original.
  • In case of signing on behalf of a company, the Notarial Certificate should clearly state that the ‘Practising Solicitor’/‘Notary Public’ is satisfied that the signatory has the full authority and the capacity to sign of behalf of the company.

TIME AND FEES
Please allow up to 5 working days for consular legalisation. The legalisation fee charge of the Consulate of Jordan is £94.50 per commercial document or £22.50 per personal document. The fees include the postal order charge as the Consulate only accept payments by postal order.
