Consular legalisation for Jordan

Notarisation of documents for Jordan

LEGALISATION AND APOSTILLE REQUIREMENTS

For documents to be used in Jordan, they must first be legalised with an Apostille from the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), then submitted to the Jordanian Consulate for further attestation. Commercial documents can be legalised either by the FCDO or by the Arab British Chamber of Commerce before being presented to the Consulate. All documents must specifically refer to Jordan; documents mentioning other countries are likely to be rejected. For UK educational documents intended for accreditation by the Ministry of Higher Education in Jordan, attestation can be done directly by the British Council in Amman, with no need for FCDO Apostille or consular legalisation in the UK. Bundled documents under one notarial certificate and Apostille incur only one consular fee.

TIME AND FEES

The consular fee is £42.80 per commercial document, £100.40 per commercial document if processed through the London and Arab Chambers of Commerce, and £10.20 per personal document. Processing time is typically 3–4 working days for personal or commercial documents submitted directly to the Consulate, and 8–10 working days for commercial documents processed via the Chambers. Payment is accepted by card and online only. Submissions are by appointment, with lodging hours from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and collection from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday.
