Consular legalisation for Ethiopia

Notarisation of documents for Ethiopia

LEGALISATION AND APOSTILLE REQUIREMENTS

For documents to be accepted in Ethiopia, they must first be legalised with an Apostille from the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), then submitted to the Ethiopian Consulate for further attestation. Ethiopian documents must be authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ethiopia before submission. Documents not issued in the UK or Ethiopia need to be authenticated by the relevant authority in their country of origin and then Apostilled by the FCDO before being presented to the Consulate.

TIME AND FEES

The consular fee is £80 per commercial or private document, and £50 per personal document for Ethiopian nationals (proof of nationality such as an Ethiopian passport or ID card is required). Processing time is typically 2 to 3 working days. Payment is accepted by card only. Document submissions for legalisation are accepted on Mondays and Wednesdays only.
