Consular legalisation for Libya

Notarisation of documents for Libya

LEGALISATION AND APOSTILLE REQUIREMENTS

For documents to be used in Libya, they must first be legalised with an Apostille from the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), then submitted to the Libyan Consulate for further attestation. Some commercial documents may also require legalisation by the London and Arab-British Chambers of Commerce before submission to the Consulate. An Arabic translation of each document must be included when submitting to the Consulate.

TIME AND FEES

The consular fee is £150 per document. If further legalisation by the London and Arab-British Chambers of Commerce is required, an additional fee of £58.50 per document applies. Processing time at the Consulate is typically 1–3 working days, while documents requiring further attestation by the Chambers usually take 8–10 working days. Payment can be made by cash or bank transfer. Submissions are accepted from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, Monday to Thursday.
