LEGALISATION AND APOSTILLE REQUIREMENTS
Canada is a party to the 1961 Hague Convention, so a Hague Apostille from the UK is generally sufficient for documents intended for use in Canada. Under the federal Canada Evidence Act, public documents issued or executed in the UK that have been certified by a UK Notary Public or Solicitor and display their name and official seal are recognized as legally valid in Canada and can be used as evidence without further legalisation. However, certain documents destined for Quebec may require additional consular attestation, so it is advisable to confirm specific requirements with the relevant party in Canada.
