LEGALISATION & APOSTILLE REQUIREMENTS
Foreign and Commonwealth Office Legalisation required.
This is followed by Consular legalisation from the Consulate of Qatar in London.
Foreign documents are not accepted, except documents issued in the Republic of Ireland, Norway, Iceland, Jersey, Guernsey, Isle of Man and Channel Islands, which must be firstly attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the respective country of origin prior to submitting to the consular section of the Embassy of Qatar in the UK for further attestation.

Commercial documents such as: certificate of origin, invoices, packing list, bill of lading, certificate of goods…etc, must be stamped by the London and Arab-British Chambers of Commerce prior to submitting to Consulate.

For educational certificates, they now require that consulate attestation must be supported by the following three items below:
1) Certificate/Diploma;
2) Supported by the transcript; and
3) A cover letter from the issuing educational body confirming ALL the points set out below:

  • The qualification / genuineness of the certificate,
  • The mode and type of study: whether full time/part-time or distance learning (E-learning)/ proximate learning (face to face learning),
  • The place of study and the place where the examination was held,
  • The awarded title of the issued diploma, i.e Degree (BA or Bsc), Masters or Doctorate program,
  • The length of the course,
  • The actual dates of study (start date and the end date).

Please note that items 1), 2) and 3) above must be attested by the UK FCO. In addition, any certificate obtained via distance learning or an online program will NOT be accepted for attesting as this is not in accordance with the rules of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Doha.

TIME AND FEES
Please allow around 4-5 days for consular legalisation. The legalisation fee charge of the Consulate of Qatar is £33 per document related to commercial matters and £22 per document related to personal matters.

In regard to educational certificates, the consular legalisation fee is £25 per page of the document, even if the document has only one Apostille, the other pages must be stamped by the Qatari Consulate.

The consulate accept submission of documents on Mondays and Thursdays ONLY.

Foreign and Commonwealth Office Legalisation required.
This is followed by legalisation by the Consulate of Saudi Arabia. Commercial documents additionally require legalisation at the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Arab-British Chamber of Commerce and Industry prior to submitting to the Consulate of Saudi Arabia.

The Embassy requires copy of a passport of the signatory (ies) and copy of the Certificate of Incorporation in case of commercial documents.

The signatory (ies) passport (s) must be typed in/written under/against his name for Powers of Attorney, Authorisations of Agent and Agreements. In case of Saudi Arabian nationals, their ID numbers need to be typed in against each name appointed.

For a work permit application and legalisation of educational certificates, document(s) must be presented through the Cultural Attaché and not through the consular section.

For legalisation of personal documents, the holder must attend the consular section to submit the documentation in person.

Two photocopies of each document are required in case of company documents, and the name and address of the consignee or agent in Saudi Arabia must appear on each document.

TIME AND FEES
Please allow up to 5-7 working days for the legalisation of commercial documents through the London and Arab-British Chambers of Commerce.

The legalisation fee charge of the Consulate of Saudi Arabia is £12 per commercial document plus £48.03 for London and Arab-British Chambers of Commerce for standard service. For private documents, the legalisation fee is £12 per document.

LEGALISATION & APOSTILLE REQUIREMENTS

Documents for use in Sierra Leone usually do not need to be legalised if they are signed/authenticated by a UK notary public (s. 2 of the Sierra Leoneon Proof of Documents (Commonwealth and Foreign Countries) Act 1961 and, specifically for affidavits, Order 31, para. 12 of the High Court Rules 2007).

However, the consulate of Sierra Leone still provides legalisation if required. Prior to presenting the document to the consular section, it must be Apostilled by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

The Consulate requires a covering letter if the document does not mention Sierra Leone. Photocopy of the document is also required.

Please allow around 3-5 working days for consular legalisation. The legalisation fee charge of the Consulate of Sierra Leone is £200 per document.

Where a commercial invoice requires legalisation for Sudan, the Consulate reserves the right to charge a percentage fee based on the value of the invoice.

Documents may be submitted as a bundle, provided they are bound with ribbon and sealed by the certifying officer.

Foreign documents may be rejected.
Three photocopies of all documents is required.

The legalisation fee charge of the Sudan (North) Consulate varies according to the documentation type. The consular fee is £55 per document for commercial matters plus additional fees for legalisation via London and Arab-British Chambers of Commerce (£48.03 for standard service or £87.03 for express service); £15 for an academic certificate per document; and £22 per document for personal matters (e.g birth, marriage and death certificates and private Powers of Attorneys).

The Applicant and Agent’s passport copies are required. The application form available on the consulate’s website needs to be filled in and signed by the holder of the document/Applicant.  

The Consulate also requires for the holder of the document, whether private or company, to issue a separate letter of authorisation to the Agent to legalise the document on their behalf and it must be notarised only (no Apostille required).  The letter of authorisation must have the expire date.  

For personal documents such as a school letter/ education certificate/ qualification certificate, the English notary public must certify that confirmation of authenticity from the issuing party has been established.

The Taipei Representative Office in London also has jurisdiction for the legalisation of documents issued in the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, the Turks and Caicos Islands, the Falkland Islands, Ghana, the Seychelles and Sierra Leone. Documents with a connection to places north of Durham, including Cumbria and Scotland, must be sent to the Taipei Representative Office in Edinburgh, which also has jurisdiction for the Isle of Man.

Please allow 7-10 working days for standard consular legalisation and 2-3 working days for express consular legalisation. The legalisation fee charge of the Consulate of Turkmenistan is £85 per document for standard consular legalisation.
